How do I register a domain name?
To register a domain name on our Standard Service, please
click
here. To register a domain name on our Gold Service, please click
here. This
will allow you to check the availability of your domain name, then enter your
information. Your order will then be sent to us, and we will contact you then
register your domain name. There is no need
to use credit cards as we will send you an invoice. You can then pay us within 28 days.
How much does it cost?
Currently, the standard package costs £16.75 for
UK domain names and .biz and .info domains, or £21.25 for
International domain names. The gold package costs £29.99 for UK domain
names (including .biz and .info) and £34.99 for International domain names. All
prices include hosting, VAT and services and are paid annually.
How do I know if a
domain name is available?
You can check the availability of all .com, .net, .org, .co.uk, .org.uk, .ltd.uk,
.plc.uk, .biz and .info domain names using the Availability Checker tool on
the Web-Design UK Domain Names web-site, situated on the left-hand side of the page. There is no charge or obligation for
checking the availability, and the lookup wizard will display an "available" or
"unavailable" page depending upon the domain name's availability status.
How long does it take
to register my domain name?
The registration of all UK domain names normally takes up to 24 hours;
International Domain Names and .biz and .info domains normally take between 24
and 72 hours to be registered, as a different domain name authority to that of
the UK domain names is used.
Some services on the Gold package may take slightly longer to set up due to their more complex nature. Once set up, you can usually start using the domain name and its associated services within an additional 12-24 hours.
You can check the progress of your domain name registration using the "Registry WhoIs" facility provided on the Web-Design UK Domain Names site. When you use this tool, if you see the domain name available page after clicking the "Check Availability" button, the registration of your web-site is still in progress.
What services do I get with my domain name?
With both standard and gold packages, you
get all of the following services with your domain name for no extra fee
(included in annual services fee):
1. Domain name registration / renewal
2. E-mail services including POP3 Accounts, Forwarding, Auto-responders...
3. URL forwarding / point your domain to another.
4. Hosting for your web-site (10MB)
5. Choice of Windows 2000 or Unix services
6. WebMail facility on Unix
7. Statistics / bandwidth information
With the gold package you also get ALL of the following:
1. Choice between Windows 2000 or Linux (UNIX) hosting;
2. FREE WebMail & Web-site Statistics - OR - Personal Control Panel

If I do not have a
control panel, how do I set up my services?
We will do this for
you. Simply e-mail or telephone us and let us know. You can do this from the
support facility at
http://www.wd-uk.com/support for clients on our Standard Package or
http://www.wd-uk.com/goldsupport for Gold Package clients.
How much bandwidth am
I allowed?
We do not normally limit your bandwidth for domain names, but we will have to
make an extra charge if your domain name exceeds 2GB bandwidth per month, at 3p
per extra MB used. If your domain name is consistently exceeding fair
allocations of resources, we will discuss alternative arrangements with you.
How often do I get billed for domain name renewals?
The registration and renewal of your domain name is included in the annual
service fee you pay to us. This fee is renewable annually, for BOTH UK and
International domain names. However, the annual fee we charge for .co.uk domain
names is less than the annual fee for .com domain names.

Can I transfer
my domain name to another ISP?
You can transfer your domain name to any other ISP you wish. There is no release
or transfer fee. We regret, however, that we cannot refund any fee for services
that you have paid for.

What should I do if I
need help and support?
You can contact us at any time by e-mail at

is the most convenient for you. You are also welcome to telephone us on 01823 254211 during office hours (click for
details). We will not charge you extra for support regarding your domain name
and will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible.
When can I contact you?
Web-Design UK is open from 9am to 5pm - Monday to Friday, and from 11am to 5pm -
Saturday and Sunday. You can contact us by e-mail 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
or telephone us during office hours on 01823 254211. You can send us a fax by calling this number and selecting option '6'.
Do you only provide
services for customers in the UK?
At present we only provide support and services for UK resident customers and
businesses, but you are welcome to call us on 01823 254211 for more
details, in case we may be able to help you.
